Kettering & District IA

Kettering, Corby, Rothwell, Burton Latimer, Thrapston, Raunds, Higham Ferrers, Rushden, Irthlingborough, Wellingborough. If you hail from these towns and surrounding areas then we could be the group for you.

Currently we hold three meetings each year as well as arranging a midweek Summer day out and a midweek Christmas meal. All opportunities to chat to other IA members. We are trying to expand our social activities to provide a more inclusive atmosphere for both ileostomists and pouchies, young and old(er) alike. Check out the Events page for future dates.

Let any of the committee know if you have an idea for an event or want something specific organised. But be careful, you may just be volunteering to join the committee!

Online Membership,New members and Renewals

Because we hold an account with a building society and we charge a slightly lower annual subscription than suggested nationally online membership application and renewal is not suitable for members of Kettering and District IA. That is unless you don’t mind paying the slightly higher amount.

Committee Vacancies

We would like to add one or two people to our committee. At present we just need to expand numbers with no specific roles. However both Treasurer and Secretary have indicated that they would like to stand down from their roles over the next couple of years. Please contact any of the existing committee if you feel you could help the group out by joining us. The roles are not too demanding, expenses are covered. Please don’t wait to be invited. And you are welcome if you want to sit in on a meeting before deciding. Coffee and cake is provided.

Donations and Bequests

(please read before making a donation or drawing up a will)

If you wish to make a donation via Virgin Money Giving please make sure you specify which part of IA should receive the money. In the absence of instructions the money will go to the national IA charity. Please specify “Kettering IA” if you wish this group to receive your gift.

If you wish to leave a gift to IA in your will please ensure that the relevant clause makes reference to the charity registered number to avoid confusion. Kettering IA’s number is 1038326.

Gift Aid

Please remember that if you are a taxpayer we will receive an extra 25%from the taxman if you complete a Gift Aid form, available from the Treasurer.

Disabled Toilets

In the UK many disabled toilets are locked to prevent indescriminate use. Keys can be obtained from RADAR at a cost of £4. Details can be found on the RADAR website at http://www.radar-shop.org.uk/Detail.aspx?id=0. You can also get a free radar key through your ostomy supplier.

Midlands IA have produced a plastic card to help deal with situations where your use of a disabled toilet may be questioned, also useful when out and you need the toilet quickly, the card may sway retailers to help you by allowing you to use their staff toilet. Cards can be obtained free from our Chair Danni James (see Contacts page). They are a useful thing to have in your wallet or bag just in case you need some help in explaining your rights.
